Other teams can't offer him as much money, and the Raptors can offer him an additional year on his contract.
What bothered me about Mike James this year was all the times he attempted three point shots when all of his teammates were behind him on the floor. If he didn't make the shot, the Raps had 0% chance at the rebound.
It looks like Washington's Brandon Roy should be available in the draft when the Raptors get their first round pick, (unless they win the draft lottery, and have a shot at LaMarcus Aldridge or Tyrus Thomas). Roy could fill James' spot, and leave enough money under the cap for a free agent like Speedy Claxton, who would be a good fit as a true point. I wouldn't rule out the Raptors packaging their first pick with some ballast like Araujo & Eric Williams to the Bucks for Jamaal Magloire, either.
