well.....lets look at some points here....

1- will your insurance give you a big enough break on your rates to cover the monthly fees or even cover the purchase price?

2- are you worried about the car because of the personal modfications you have done?......if so..when they steal it the will strip it so fast it will not matter when they find it.

3- is it the belongings inside?...again...gone before they find the car.

4- recovery fee......you pay them to monitor..install...and then pay them for finding it.........what does that cost?

all that special finding and locating technology..and they say at the end...

"In the event that your vehicle equipped with a Boomerang2 device is stolen and not recovered in 60 days, we will:

*
Refund the cost of the unit plus installation fee and service fees paid during your current term as per your Service Agreement
or
*
Provide you with a new unit, including free installation and a new service agreement for a duration equivalent to your current term. "

Seems to me like alot for a car......but that is my opinion......

No, some good points there for sure.

It's more about the car and less about either the insurance break or what's inside. They say they recover within two hours max and usually within an hour. My thing is more to get the car back to avoid hassles. It's not really about the money and more about switching the game on the car thieves. I have heard very good things about boomerang and wondered about real world experience.

I don't understand why it should cost that much. In South Africa,
it is almost a requirement for getting insurance that a tracking
device is installed. The price is quite reasonable, and I don't remember
there was a monthly fee.

A LOT of contractors have them installed in their heavy equipment now.

Too much thieving going on in the construction industry and with deductables being what they are, you're screwed.

I saw some heavy equipment go missing on a site one time. Whoever took it though suspected a boomerang because they parked it down by the Humber River in a very secluded spot. I guess they figured they would wait and if no-one came and picked it up, they'd go in and claim their prize. The technology does work.

A thousand bucks on a piece of equipment worth a quarter million is nothing.
