Broken Appliances

I rent out a few boarding houses, and find I always have trouble with broken appliances and getting the work done on time without my tenants threatening to hold back their rent. I can never find any reliable appliance company, so I decided to look in the yellow pages came across one place I never used and decided to give them a call.

But before I go on, first I want to preface this by saying why don't they have more women appliance service people? I mean if I want to look at a plumbers butt, quite frankly I would rather look at a woman, no matter what she looks like.

So I had my wish come true the other day when they actually sent over two women. One was the boss's wife I guess, and she was training some other women. Wow, what can I say. I must have been a good boy this year.

They were also great! They knew what the problem was right away, I just needed a part.

The next day another person showed up to install the part, this time a women again! Not the same woman, but another one.

I asked if this was a 'women only' appliance company, and the girl said no, there are just two of us, and they are training a third, but she may not work out.
So I ask myself "Why are there so few woman in this industry"?. Also why are there so few female plumbers?

Are we men really shutting them out? We should be ashamed of ourselves, because look at what we are missing.

I would rather have a women come over to fix my appliance or toilet, then some guy with a plumbers butt, (gross, lucky I have no gag reflex)

If you want their number for the future appliance break downs, here it is, 416 283 5000
I dont work for these people, and Im not getting any money to post this, but just thought some guys who want a lucky break should know.

These are industries which tend to require strength (e.g. to move a major appliance, or to torque a nut), and attract dirt (especially cleaning pipes) - aspects which tend to detract more women than men.

I think you're basically asking why aren't more women entering into what is typically a male profession. Short answer is because they typically aren't interested in these areas.

Thankfully more women are entering into the trades and holding their own. But there are some where you just won't see women: drywallers for eg. There are few women who can haul around 4 x 10 sheets of 1/2" all day. Now tapers? that's a finesse job that they'd be great for.
