It is dumb. If it wasn't broken, it could be a relative who's even a firefighter that died. Anything but Bin Laden. What yahoos.

A little pet Peeve of mine, I'm glad the article got it correct but

It's half staffed , not half mast, you only use the latter when it is on a ship.

While it is normal to assume a flaf at half staff is one of mourning , to assume it's for Osama is stupid.

It puzzles and troubles me that one sees more of this particularly on commercial properties than there ought to be. Yes things break, but to take days to get someone to fix what is often a simple problem. . . . Likewise continuing to fly a flag which is fraying all to *&#$ at the fly end is your firm that economically desperate?

What I find weird is they started getting harrassing calls on tuesday (according to the story), but they didnt correct the problem till wednesday. If you're getting irate customers calling all day, shouldnt you right away correct the problem by simply fixing the flag??

It's hard to comment on that without knowing the particulars of the staff in question, they may have need to hire a cherry picker to get it fixed. Generally no other safe way to get to the top of a flag pole, nothing for a ladder to leand against.

It was raining, too. Might not be safe to repair in the rain.
Yeah I was only kidding really, but I know the media sometimes will protect peoples race or religion so they dont compromise entire groups with their news story.

Either way though, threatening a business cause their flag happens to be half-mast is retarded.
