I've heard about 10 minutes of this guy in the last few months, and he's as predictable as he is dull. For those who don't know, he's the former head of the Toronto Police Union. I don't know how he's lasted so long on radio. The whole thing is nothing but him explaining how the rest of the world, including the politicians and media, hate cops, who are of course all brave heroes valiantly standing up against them while continuing to fight crime, and anyone who makes any suggestion about improving policing in Toronto has an anti-police axe to grind and has no idea what they're talking about.
Did anyone hear this today? Wild guess here - it was something like, "all prostitution is run by organized crime, and the poor cops do all they can to fight against it, but the stupid courts make it tough for them".This Week: Shining a Red Light on Toronto
Are our police resources being "wasted" on the battle against the oldest profession, or is there enough crime that surrounds prostitution in our city that the attention is warranted? The Beat speaks to sex workers, residents, councillors, cops and experts on the controversial issues that spark debate around prostitution. What is the difference between legalization and decriminalization? Why not set up a red light district? And what is the tie between immigration and sex workers in our city? We'll find out, on The Beat.
