Burning Data to DVD?

I want to burn data (not movies) to a DVD due to the higher amount of data storage capability. I'm using Nero Burning ROM 7.

Do I need to do something different than why I burn to a regular CD? The data usage bar at the bottom doesn't seem to recognize the increased capacity of the DVD...

If Nero does not adjust the size of the bar when you insert a blank media (before the burn screen), then you have to go somewhere in the settings and change it...

I cannot tell you where as I did not install it on my laptop... yet! But it won't last!

Backing up data on DVD is mainly the same as on CD.

I use Drag N' Drop (software) for general routine data back up on my main desktop onto DVD-R. Basically, it's simply drag and drop files then click record/burn .

In Nero 6, when you start "Nero Smart Start", in the upper right hand corner you select CD or DVD. Don't know about Nero 7
