Burning protected DVD

drrogers

DrRogers has left the Bld
I have a DVD movie that I want to copy - it is protected -
I have used DVDFab to rip it to my computer and that gave me two directories Audio_TS and Video_TS.
The Audio_TS has nothing in it - the Video_TS has a shitload of files ending in .VOB .IFO and .BUP
Now how do I get this to burn to another DVD that is playable on any DVD player - when I try to burn it with Roxio I have no clue what to do. I also have Nero 6 that I could load and use if needed. HELP

quite simple ..

1. install anydvd ..this rips out the protection bit

2. repack the vts_vob using dvdshrink(freeware) into iso file

3. burn to dvd ..

you gotta run anydvd as memory resident ..

I over-heard these steps at a restaurant ..:)

Apparently once shrink is done, the movie will eject and ask for a blank...
in the options you can check burn with Nero.
Make sure your blank media is compatiable with your dvd player

I over-heard this at my pottery class!!!!

2. repack the VTS_Vob???? is there a radio button in dvdshrink or a setting that says this or is it some magic keyphrase?
3. what do i use to burn DVD and what files do i burn - is it just one file or folder?

This is close, the rest of you guys like doing things the hard way.

1. Install Nero (most likely came with the DVD drive for free)
2. Use your favorite free decryptor (DVD Decryptor, DVDFAB, AnyDVD, etc) to copy the DVD to your hard drive (minus encryption and macrovision.)
3. Open the directory on the hard drive with DVD Shrink
4. Put a blank DVD in and hit "Back-up". (DVDshrink will automatically shrink and uses Nero to burn)

You also can get into the fancy stuff like re authoring the disk to get rid of garbage, etc

all you need is 3 free tools IMGBURN, DVDDECRYPTER, DVDSHRINK and nero and your set to burn any movie you heart desires.

i know that decrypter is no longer supported ..... thats why i use IMGBURN to get around the protection and use the other programs to shrink and burn the movies its simple man no need to pay for anything.

I use AnyDVD to enable copying the files to the hard drive and Nero 7 to compress and burn.
You're supposed to pay for AnyDvd but... it can be found elsewhere. :)
I haven't noticed any issues with Nero 'Recode' movies freezing, but I only burn single layer.
Nero puts the layer break in the wrong spot burning dual layer. Computer DVD drives can usually still figure it out, but standalone DVD players will freeze at the layer break.

I usually use DVDFab Platinum to copy, shrink & burn any DVD that I rent
