Anyone know what a decent camcorder is?
I was considering JVCs camcorder with a harddrive 30gb, but it's $1600.

Top left model, all black.
A bit too steep, and it only has 10x optical.
Anyon here make the switch to harddrive based camcorders or still using MiniDVs?

It all depends on what your using it for.

If your just using for like family events and maybe playing around making your own home porno video then go with a MiniDV

You don't really need to with the DVD harddrive ones because they cost way too much unless you have something to cover the cost of them like i.e runing a porno video company.

For my webcam shows I use a JVC-290 miniDV and that expensive thing cost me almost 600$ is takes still images, remote control zoom and I can take still images from the remote control as well, the picture quality is as if I am watching tv.

but when it comes to investing in a camera or camcorder it all depends on what the purpose of it is for.

Mainly for myself, kicking around kinda camera, no videos of my dog at all.
Goofin around with the friends, etc.
Nothing too intense, although, I like my toys. :D (i'm a guy, always want the best bang for the buck).
MiniDV quality at its best setting, and its lowest, what are the recording times?
I'm not too interested in stills, because i have my Nikon DSLR with a "few" lenses for stills. ;-)

Your basically going to have to talk to the sales man in the store, about what camera you want and what your looking for it to do

I got my camera stritly for cam shows a serious investment and it's soo great in a cam show I can click on the remote and it's take a still picture during the show, that way they get to relive every moment over again.
