A bomb in your tires? That might make a good movie. Anyone know what Keannu Reaves is doing?

I would believe the RMA guy before 20/20.

The pictures of all the seperated treads on the highway are from truck retreaded tires which seperate regularly not from cars.

Rubber does age however. When will depending on where you live and how much exposure it has had to temperature change, sun etc

I would not drive on a tire that was 8 years old .

At our speed limits and temperatures, tires are not even remotely stressed, and if they do fail, it will just be a belt failure that will result in a vibration. Unlikely to cause any major probs. This is fear mongering by the tire companies.

the cause of most tire failures that are not road damage punctures is under inflation. Check them once a week and you will be fine. You will also save a lot of gas.

You can get retreads for passenger car sized tires but the cost is so close to new that it does not make sense.

Actually it's fear mongering by the press - the tire companies through their association the RMA deny that it's a significant problem.

There are way more problems caused by underinflation than by age.
