So a chip in my windshield turned into a wicked crack... what is the deal with windshield repair (I see places offering to pay my deductable etc). How will this affect my rates when I do make a claim (I fricken hate insurance companies).

Anyone have recs for repairs in the Whitby area, let me know.

Thx.

I did this a few years ago.

1. Cash price $180
2. Insurance claim $425

They pay your deductible because they get 2X the fee for same work via insurance claim. With state of auto insurance drivers are screwed for small claims where there is actually no fault. How it affect your insurance rates is case dependent, but ALL claims affect your rate eventually. Advice - curse, swear, curse again and go pay cash outta yer pocket.

I had this van dent the front of my car and I thought I would have to take it to a body shop to get it filled in and painted and be without my car for 2 days! I was then told by a good friend of mine of a service that knocks the dents out without having to do any body work or painting. I called them up and the guy came right on over to my home and in 30 minutes using a bunch of special tools my dint was gone! I was truly impressed with this service and best of all he charged me only $130 total and I didn't have to take my car any place.

Do you happend to have the phone# and name of the company.
I have a nice large dent on my left side wheel fender. It looks like some one backed in slowly. Luckly for me the dent has no scratches and all the paint is there.

My experience has been you must give the glue at least 24 hours to set...although, the shops will tell you different. I've had three windshields replaced over the years, and the only one that didn't leak was the one time I left the vehicle overnight.

If you must drive the vehicle same day, always make sure to leave a window cracked just a tiny bit so the pressure inside the car equalizes each time you shut the door.

I hope the mods don't mind me posting this here but I've been getting PMed alot for this guys number.

It's Dent Tech... they have an ad in the yellow pages. 905-601-5500.

I called at noon and at 3:00pm the guy was at my home and working on my car in my driveway. 30 minutes later he was done and I can hardly tell where the dent was. Well worth the $130 it cost.. I even tiped him some.

If the dents has little to no scratches and all the paint is there then they can fix it.

Thx.

Cracks from my understanding cannot be repaired, and requires replacement.
I had a stone chip with small hairline crack(fracture),when I asked about repair I was told that the crack would be noticeable, , I think I paid $45 for the stone chip repair, the crack is still noticable, but luckily it hasn't spread, that was a year ago.

your better off just paying for a new windsheild. I was behind a truck bobtailing and a large rock was thrown up from the truck and smacked my windsheild .I went to Speedy Auto Glass and they wanted $500. I laughed and walked out.

look in the yellow pages and call around.depending on the type of vehicle you could have a new or used windsheild installed from $150-$250. don't call any of the major auto glass companies...they are all the same. *pricks*
