Carnival - Your thoughts?

New HBP show out called Carnival. I have seen the 1st two episodes and it has captured my imagination. I like the battle between good and evil themes battling around the trails of a traveling carnival. The writing and photgraphy are superb. I really like the granny texture to the filming, the anti-hollywood look of the costumes and characters. The writing always leaves you questioning what is really happening and kind of puts you into a trance. Infact, after watching last nights episode, I flipped over to the CBC evening news where Bush was asking for the UN assistance in Iraq. As I was watching Bush, I had this dreamlike sensation where I wasn't sure if Bush was real or a product of some Big Brother power ruling our lives.

Carnivale- My thoughts

I agree with you about Carnivale. It's a wonderful new HBO series reminiscent of Twin Peaks (notice the little person and the blind guy are the same people from both shows?). Very surreal and imaginative. I hadn't seen an episode until yesterday. I watched the first one in the afternoon and the second one later that evening. I'm definitely hooked. I also enjoy "Dead like me" and am eagerly anticipating the return of "Six feet under". I like HBO series' and find that, despite my extensive cable package, they're the only programs I watch.

Besides the little guy (who was a kind of ringmaster in both Twin Peaks and Carnivale) and the blind dream reader guy (who I believe was the shrink in TP) Does anyone else notice any other similarities between the 2 shows?

I find Carnivale about as mystical as I can handle. There is so much that is unknown and unexplained. I am hoping that some of it will start to fit together more as the season progresses. Has there been any actual connection between the carnival story-line and the preacher story-line yet?
