Can anyone recommend a good pre-paid cell phone provider and plan. This will be for a dancer friend of mine (Niagara Falls) that has bad credit. I want to pre-pay only so I don't run the risk of an unexpected outrageousely high bill. It will be in my name. (I am a US citizen, she is Canadian) Thank you

just get her a fido.....it's pretty easy to use....the only problem I hate is if you don't use all prepaid time within the month...it expires

Fido or Telus. Incidentally bad credit is not necessarily a barrier to getting a phone on contract. You friend just has to shop around for a vendor who is willing to bend the rules.

Actually Wrong Hole it doesn't expire ... as long as you top it up before the expiry time, it carries over to the next month. Only if you miss the deadline does it expire. I bought a prepaid phone for my kid for the same reasons, and on the months she hasn't used all the minutes, they stay with her next month when we top it up before the expiry.

see I didn't know that...I just been using the fido phone to call girls to tug me.....I always have too much time and I don't bother to top it -that's why it expires

Interesting that you pointed out that she was a dancer without it even being relevant to the story

I mention that only because I was hinting to the fact that not only do I not want a large bill coming unexpectedely, but the relationship could end tomorrow!!!! Thanks everybody for the suggestions.

Yeah, you may not get that large unexpected bill, but whatever hours you allow a dancer's phone will get used up before you can hit the re-dial.
You'll see :)

TELUS
no credit check...and it comes with 50 $ card....if you activate online...another 25$
dont let the 50 card get used up....renew with a 10 or 25 card...then the mins are charged at lower rate...the 50 card rate

I used Telus when I was using prepaid and the service was ok. If they are having any service problems they reduce the call load by disabling the prepaid clients before regular account clients.... there were many times when I recieved a busy system message and yet I'd pick up a friends telus phone and make the call no problem.

it is much, much easier for his friend to find a friend to foot the bill.

All I can say to him is good luck sucker!!!
