Seems pretty obvious—although the GM million-dollar a year men missed it: If there are more cars than people in the USA, and more people than cars in China, focus on what the Chinese people want in a car.

The US is a saturated market, and can be serviced as an afterthought.

Thats what I said about Hyundai. I once said I would never buy one. I knew a guy tht wanted to trade his 3 1/2 year old Hyundai for a better car because he got a job that paid 3 times the salary, but when he went to trade in his carhe was told that frome the original $12000 it was only worth $4200. It was in excelent condition with 1.5 more years on the original warranty. I bought it for my assistant that only uses it maybe 2 hours a day for work ( she is in the office most of the time ) It is reliable and it almost cost me nothing.

Interesting. The US government gives 17 bn to GM so that US plants can be closed and Chinese cars can be imported. Excellent move Obama.
So not only have you pissed away the money, but you are going to have gazillions of unemployed workers in the pipeline.

I would not bet on that. Surely a lot of crap is manufactured in China, but they also
have many manufacuring plants that are second to none in the world.

Who do you think manufactured the computer you are using?

i hate that truth about computers all coming from China(we haven't a choice in alternative manufacturing countries))
imagine with the cost of GM being what it is...that they get bought like IBM personal computers did.

That's true many great factories. The problem with China is thought process. They do not question authority, they can not come up with Plan B, they are not creative.
In my dealings with Chinese manufacturers it always shows that they are very good at manufacturing to print (western prints), but if something goes wrong or if something doesn't fit they are stuck because most workers are operators and not thinkers (all they way to the higher employment levels).

For that reason they have a long way to go to become Japan, Germany, Switzerland...

A lot of crap is manufactured in China, because the business man in North America and Europe want to buy the product for pennies. If you paid for quality materials and gave them room to make quality, there is no place in North America that can meet or beat them due to the high cost of labour. The cars are a coming!

If you are sitting in front of a computer now, it is most likely made in China. Unless it is so old it may have been made in the USA, in the last century decades ago. Your clothes are probably mostly Chinese made. Your watch is probaly from China. Soon, you car in the driveway will most likely be Chinese. If your car you have now probaly has between 500 and 1000 small parts made in China.
