Are you going to bet against them?

I am typing this message on a almost new QUAD chip HP computer, tell me it is not one of the best around these days. It is made in China. Like almost all of the computers you guys are using right now to read this message.
The cars are of old chinese design, and are not very good quality now. Did you know that Volkwagon, BMW, Mercedes, Audi, GM, Toyota, Honda, are all making Euro and North American spec. cars for the Asian market in China. The dam is going to burst when one of these manufacturers start to expert these cars out of China into the western markets. When that happens the rest will have to follow or die. I have alos heard that there is a Chinese government department that is restricting bad quality goods from leaving China. All goods have to meet health and safety standards or they do not get export permits. This is the same type government department the Japanese put in place after WWII, to make sure only quality goods left the country.

Well Doc, like all imports there will be restrictions put on as to how many can be imported, and what their "US or Canadian" content will be. Since China is buying a lot of our steel, they might just make it.

Proof of this is why honda and other japanese manufacturers opened up plants domestically.

We also have copyright laws here so anything that is a direct rip off of another make won't be allowed in.

So, those expecting a floodgate of cheap hot looking cars are in for a disappointment.....

But hopefully with a much better quality than that truck...

I am not a big fan of China's mandate to monopolize the global manufacturing sector but in all fairness I question the validity of that video.

I suspect that the rear of that truck might have been overloaded to increase momentum (at the very least)

Chinese cars making it in North America ? It's been discussed before and it will happen . Just a matter of time.

If Hyundai did it in the 80's, Chinese auto makers will in the near future.

Not compared to that truck. Heck the Smart Car might even win in that exchange. :)

Chrysler is planning on bringing in Chinese manufactured cars into N.A. under a Chrysler badge; but, the program is a year or two behind schedule due to problems with Chinese quality control and one of the biggest problems is improving crash test results.

North Americans just won't accept a car that bombs out on crash tests.
In twelve years or so, expect the Chinese will be able to deliver cars that can compete and cost 30% less than their competition.
