Christopher Nolan's latest film is supposed to come out in the summer, can it save the theater industry?

Like Dunkirk before it Nolan wrote and directed the film himself. His relationship with his younger brother Jonathan had become frayed by the time Interstellar was made. It was an uneven film but still better than most. When I heard about this project it was described as a tribute to Alfred Hitchcock, it stars Denzel's son, John David Washington.

I've never missed watching a Christopher Nolan film at the theater, this will not be any different.

Dunkirk wasn't very good.

Nolan is as shrewd as he is talented. After the success of his indy film Memento, he became director for hire on Insomnia. Al Pacino was the executive producer and lead actor, he could have fired him at any time. That didn't happen, Insomnia is one of the best atmospheric murder mysteries of all time...there I said it! When it came to picking a director to reboot the Batman franchise, Michael Corleone made WB an offer they couldn't refuse.

Italian men don't drink tea...that's respect!

I’ve enjoyed Nolan’s work since Memento. I think his best works since then have been Dark Knight and Inception. It took me a minute to absorb and comprehend what I was watching in this trailer, but it looks like Nolan is once again playing with time as a construct. Definitely going to watch this in the theatre.

2002 was a pivotal year for both Robin Williams and Nolan. With Insomnia and One Hour Photo, Williams proved that he was not just a comic genius, he was an acting one as well.

Nolan proved that Memento was not a fluke - not many directors would attempt a scene like this.

It's a good scene, but I might give some credit to the location scout (or whoever found the location).

Yep, it's an overrated and meandering war epic.
I disagree.

Nolan had a solid game plan for the making of the film. The history of the event spoke for itself, he didn't need to embellish it, he was more concerned with the ordeal of the soldiers involved. The drowning scene is absolutely terrifying, you can sense the pilot's growing panic. Mark Raylance was awesome, as a participant of the rescuing flotilla. Imho it's a better war film than Full Metal Jacket, I sensed Kubrick lost his way. Btw, Jack Lowden (Fighting with my Family) who pulled off that taut drowning scene is working with Hardy again in Capone.

Nolan did give his friend Hardy that "matinee idol" send off at the end.

An highly underrated Nolan film is The Prestige with Christian Bale, Hugh Jackman and My Cocaine and an excellent candidate by a legend. And then there's the twist ending.

I enjoy war epics for the historical reenactment and the real-life drama that unfolded in that time. I enjoyed Dunkirk.

While I think it's possible to do a personal story during a battle, I think you have to drill down to a micro-level and focus almost entirely on the struggle of a very few (an individual, a couple or a family) with the event (the war) mostly in the background. I found the various individual stories in Dunkirk not terribly engaging and the bouncing around from story to story a bit chaotic.

Dunkirk also strives to be an epic. In an epic, I think you have to give more context for the broader event.
