Anyone know a place where I can find a reasonably priced cigar humidor in that can hold about 25-30 cigars? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

cigar

The "Cigar studio" just off Bloor near royal york...

Conversly if its for cigars and not "for show" go with Tupperwear (a Tupperdor if you would)

Heep the cigars Humid by putting a moist sponge in.. be sure cigars can't touch the wet sponge..

The cheapest way to keep your cigars is in a apothecary jar, these are the old style candy jars you would see in a 1920s store. You can get them at dollar stores or nik nak stores. Just put your cigars in and put some of the cedar wood from the cigar box in. you can also buy cedar veners from the cigar stores. If you have a cigar humidity meter, this will help keep your cigars in good shape. Keep the cigars in cool temps like your refrigerator or you can keep it at room temp. if there are not too many extremes.

They will dry out, thats why you have to put them in a humidor. If you want to keep them in the box, at least put them in a sealed plastic container in the fridge with a humidity meter and some humidity

Make sure you use Spanish Cedar, not the cedar you make a deck from or line a closet with. I used to make humidors so I know a little about this. FYI, Spanish cedar is not actually a cedar, but it is the wood that proper humidors are lined with.

There are options for you with the humidor. If you are looking for a 25-30 count, plan on spending $50 at the low end. Make sure it has a good seal - you should not be able to pull out a piece of paper caught between the lid and bottom.

If you are looking for the humidor as a piece of furniture, spend the money on one. If you are looking for a place to store cigars, there is a cheaper route. Go to a store that sells kitchen storage - ie. Rubbermaid, Frig-O-Seal, Tupperware, etc. Buy one big enough for what you need. Go to a cigar store and buy a humidifier device. This is the thing that goes in a humidor to hold the water. When you're at the cigar shop, ask the shop keeper if you could get an old cigar box or two - they should give one to you for a couple of bucks worse case. Break apart the box to give you some cedar that you can put the cigars on. Charge the humidifier device with distilled water (from a drug store or grocery store). Put the cedar at the bottom of the storage box, put the humidifier in one corner, put the cigars in there and close it up. Every week or so, open the box for about 5 minutes to recyle the air (it is a tighter seal than a humidor) and check that the humidifier has water.

Cigars must be kept in an environment under 71 degrees and between 65% and 70% humidity. Too warm, the beetles will hatch and eat them. Too wet they will swell and have a hard draw and then get mold. Too dry they will crack and burn too fast.

If you are looking for a good humidor at a reasonable price, go to www.canadahumidor.com .

If purchasing to store for a long period of time, 'cheap' and 'humidor' should never be in the same sentence, that is unless you make one yourself (which is a great idea) if you don't care about how it looks. A 'cheap' humidor will do, if you want to keep your cigars for under about six weeks, and you smoke them really quickly. If you wish to put some age on the cigars, get something quality.

Think of it this way... If you keep 30 $50 cigars, you have invested $1500. Why would you want to keep your investment in something 'cheap' that will not protect them? Further, always purchase a humidor that holds a greater capacity than the amount of cigars you wish to store. Allowing different 'types' of cigars to touch can cause the flavors to meld, so it is always a good idea to keep them separated if possible.

As someone brought up earlier, a humidor made from a seal able cooler will work as good (if not better) than any store bought one. Here is a great link on how to make a few different types.

If you decide to purchase one, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, properly condition it prior to using it. In my experience that takes about a week to do. Always use DISTILLED WATER. Tap water will fuck your stogies faster than anything else. Remember to open your humidor for a couple of minutes once a week as well, so there can be airflow.

My final suggestion is to buy about a dozen really cheap cigars off the start to practice with. Southern Ontario has really difficult conditions to keep moisture levels regulated in. Very low humidity in the winter, and far too much in the winter.

Jerry or Shawn at Cigar Studio http://www.cigarstudio.com/ are EXCELLENT people to talk to. Super nice, great customer service, and will get you set up with something to your liking in a very decent price range, and will not do a hard sell or over sell. I have been going there for years, and they are the people I trust.

Hope this helps a bit.

Ah, but you are too modest A1! You also, know your way around a kitchen and a BBQ, know how to keep a cool head in a heated situation, know a thing or 2 about Casio watches, have the inside scoop on all our girlfriends, can spin a pretty hilarious story, and must be pretty quick with your hands from what we've read here on terb! :D

(amongst other things of course...)

Yeah, I totally forgot my vast knowledge of Casio.

Cooking... I love to eat, and it is a hobby so I have taken several cooking classes.

Stories... I am an aspiring author (who can't spell worth a damn), and I try to read at least 3 book a week.

Knowledge of Women... Dude, I'm forever in the doghouse. But I am 'nice'.

Cool Headed... Life is too short to get upset.

Fast With My Hands... Not so much anymore. I did box for 15 years, then I discovered wine, women, and food.

I guess I know a bit about a bit, but still not much about much.
