They did their share of covers, like Johnny Cash, they did them their way. Beyond that, they blended music from other cultures creating a format never heard before.

The Van Halen Bros were/are classically trained but never mimicked the sound, they blended it. Other rock musicians and musicologists were blown away.

Believe it or not, this is Spanish Baroque music.

Van Halen were the ultimate diplomats. The Brothers were trained to play the music of Luigi Boccherini, an Italian composer employed by the King of Spain. Probably why Eddie married Valerie.

Luigi Boccherini was the bridge between Mozart and Beethoven, but he was disadvantaged. While the Germanic composers published their music in Vienna (the center of the musical world) Gigi was publishing in far off Madrid. His music was forgotten for over a century.

Not sure if Van Halen played a part in Gigi's revival?

I got bumped from an Air Canada flight to Rome, I had to wait three hours for another. It turned out to be a huge blessing in disguise, I got to fly there on Air France. They screened My Name is Nobody on the flight there and the food was unreal!

In 1968 you could keep a secret. That's what Sergio Leone did with the identity of Psycho Joe. Americans were horrified!
