I saw this on the news tonight. There is a company doing it for $50,000. I think it's a cool idea and would love to clone my favorite cat. If the price comes down to something like $1000 would you clone your cat or dog?

This is the lab thats doing it... http://savingsandclone.com

As much as I love my kitties (insert masturbation joke here), I wouldn't clone them based on the fact there are so many animals out there in shelters that need homes.

My tabby came from a rescue group and my siamese kitten came from the toronto humane society. They are both happy healthy and wonderful pets.

People are free to do what they want with their money - but if it was my choice I would give a stray a home rather than genetically engineer a new pet.

Personally I love all cats. They all have thier own personalities and to me that is what makes them unique. I have two cats that were found in this tunnel outside last winter. There was the mother, obviously abandoned and all her kittens. A woman in the same building as I and myself kept visiting the tunnel everyday to coax the mother out and she became to trust us and then we got a trap from the humane society. She kept the mother cat and one of the kittens and I have two of the kittens as well. Now adult cats. I have always had cats my whole life and I think that it is the different personalities that make each one unique.

Non the less with all the abandoned animals in this world I wish that more people would take care of what we already have.

I am so happy to see all the reasons for not cloning are related to our overpopulation of animals problem!!! That's encouraging, and I was so thrilled it wasn't a bunch of rants about morality or playing God.
I completely agree with you two Stacey and Sabrina.

YYC has attempted to clone cows. On many occassions. YYC has perfected the "one arm" cloning technique.

I inherited my ex's cat about a year ago.

My ex no longer wanted her and was going to get rid of her. (Where do you get rid of an 11 year old puddy?)

This cat is a very afectionate personable little critter. She makes me laugh, and she's great company. (I like her more than my ex, that's for sure.)

Anyway, I have to admit that I wish she was 2 instead of 11, and I keep telling myself that some cats live into their 20's. I would be heart broken if something happened to her.

Anyway, if I was able to clone her once she passes away a long time from now hopefully, I probably would. Unfortunately, I don't have 50 grand to spare for something like that, but a grand?

Definitely.
