Can coconut fiber replace styrofoam as an insulation device. If so it will have a major impact on microplastics killing fish stocks.

Styrofoam breaks down readily releasing microplastics not just into the oceans, also into our lakes and streams. It's going to take the same collective effort that the world used to take out CFC-12 from refrigerators...and the ozone hole hasn't fully receded.

Kid Creole had three lovely coconuts.

Coconut husk might work well as an insulation if fluffed right.
But it is organic so likely has to be treated with something toxic to keep mold and insects from growing on it or eat it.

Not sure if toxic treatment is necessary, as my grand parents slept on coconut fiber matresses and pillows, so did I sometimes, and no issues with bugs etc.

Many folks used them for furniture cushions also and still do in the old country. The fibres were however taken from the dry nuts, and further dried via sunlight.

The fibres from young nuts will however have issues with that process however.

However, maybe proper sealing etc.

Actually their price has risen recently, as I use them very often in cooking baking etc, especially the dry ones. The fresh water is great with alcohol as most vacationers know.

In the past year or so could not find a good dry one, as the industry has taken off as the green ones are used to produce the abundance of water sold in groceries etc recently.

Just like the avocado / bamboo markets, the coconut market is taking of and all of its parts would be utilized in many aspects, gardening, cooking, clothing etc

The damage done by Styrofoam micro plastics affects us all. I bought a fillet of Lake Trout, it's been getting significantly smaller lately and the price was $23.95.

Lake Trout has as much VB12 and Omega Fatty Acids as salmon. I'm willing to tolerate higher prices on Thai Green Curry as long as fillet fish becomes more affordable.
