A week after the public consultation on the new prostitution laws closes CBC is running a series all week on human trafficking and the horrors of exploitative prostitution. I heard a bit this morning on CBC radio which was an absolute heart wrenching story right here in Ottawa. The stories are filled with statistics about the huge number of trafficked women in Canada (and Ottawa). I can see how stories like this help shape perceptions of the industry for the uninformed. Has anyone else been hearing these stories? It is probably just normal journalism, but I thought the timing was suspect.
