Hey this being my first post I guess I'll say hello to everyone as well. I was wondering if there is a way to stop the websites I have visited from popping up in the address bar everytime a letter is typed in. One of these days my roomate is going to notice what Ive been up to and I'm not looking forward to it. Any help on covering my tracks would be appreciated.

thank you

Welcome.

For Internet Explorer:

Tools -> Options -> Advanced ->

under the browsing portion, turn "Use inline AutoComplete for Web addresses" off

Well first you should tell us what browser you are using, I'll assume IE.

You can delete your temporary internet files and clear your history(this one will remove your address bar history) under tools/internet options.

That should be a start, although you can get some cleaners that do a much better job for you.

If you want to be really sneaky...

Download and install Opera* (free) here.
Hide the shortcut to start it.
Use Opera for all your clandestine surfing needs.

*contains pop-up stopping ability, as well. Cool!

Related tips: rename sites like terb in your favorites to something like "International Journal of Irreproducibility" or "Ten tweaks to improve the cut on your cyclosizer" to help hide the more obvious bad stuffs.

Or, with w2k, create extra accounts for use in going to teh bad pages - the naughtiness stays in that profile.
