Computer question (printer sharing)

I want to (and understand it's possible) to share a printer from my desktop with my laptop over a router, Im looking for help.
I think I have the sharing part figured out, but I cant seem to figure out the laptop end of it, to find the printer I wish to share
Can someone explain the steps required for printer sharing plz.

desktop machine is win2k (printer will be attatched to that)
laptop is XP (sp2)

The XP will figure out it is on a network and ask you if you woud like to set up as so.
The Win2K you will have to tell it that it is on a network. Once accomplished you set the printer up by uninstalling it and re-installing it. Desktop, of course, must be on to reach the printer. Now if you like there are some devices out there that will allow a USB or Parallel printer to be networked independantly
