Conservative Myths: Why are conservatives always proven wrong?

Two reasons really.

1) They want to freeze society with their values and some preferred time like the 1950s with Leave It to Beaver and Ozzie and Harriet. This is impossible. Values are always changing and conservatives, the resisters always lose in the end.

2) They have always preferred a hierarchical system with "betters" on top and "losers" on the bottom. This dates from ancient times when they always resisted the increasing democratization and growing equality of society lord vassel, man woman slave owner capitalist worker, straight gay white black rich poor.

They are always by their nature on the wrong side and always eventually proven wrong but they are stubborn and greedy and ignorant so this takes a long time.

It's more than a bit silly to be so touchy in a thread that began with the cartoonish suggestion that anyone who disagrees with you is stuck in the 1950s.

On this forum, at least, it's understood that when someone says he "fixed your post," it means he altered the text. In the Politics and International Affairs section, it's usually a given that the "fixed" text has a political meaning that is different from what the author intended.

Hardly a capital offence.

Probably the major crime conservatives are guilty of these days is support for anti-climate change propaganda in the name of open markets.
Climate change is going to the major story in the world very soon, even this year extreme weather has been devastating.
But food shortages and disasters are going to be daily news while the fossil fuel lobby does its continual tobacco type lobbying.
