Has anyone had issues with exchanging the new $20 bills? I know to bring smaller bills for exchange, so I will bring all $20's and no $50's or larger. Old $20 vs. new $20 is information I have not been able to find on any boards. All I found regarding money is cash is king, no USD and bring CAD or Euro. Also read debit and credit can be challenging, so I though I would keep it simple and bring cash.

I've read the Cuba threads that came up in searches and it looks like I will have a great time.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Absolutely no problem with the new 20's and 50's. They're very well aware of them and quite welcoming.

I've done it myself.

Awesome! Thanks so much guys. I was not sure how picky I needed to be with my bank here on new bills vs. old bills and the denominations. Did not want to arrive with $1000 and not be able to spend half of it. I will bring $20's and $50's from the ATM and make sure none of my bills are damaged. Thanks for the tip and I will report back when I return home in November.

First time visiting and I've read this forum and ISG and am looking forward to it.

Anytime you change currency, make sure they print the receipt.

Then recount the cash in front of them and compare your count to the receipt. They've tried to scam me before.
Yes, even at the airport Cadeca. Don't be embarrassed to pull out your calculator to ensure you are receiving the correct amount. They are not embarrassed even when you catch them, so watch your change every time.

If you check this while you're in Vedado: Head up to the intersection of 23rd & Avenida de los Presidentes. There's a great amount of great little bistros of 23rd, especially the one across from the Don Quixote monument. On week-ends, the Boulevard on Avenida de los Presidentes is just full of people. Especially willing non-pros. Just invite one out to any of the little bistros a block away and enjoy the night!

So is vedado a preferred spot to go to these days Don? I may finally get a crack at the hobby in Cuba after December.
