my cursor wont stop moving --Win Xp home..have run spybot-destroy,ad-ware,avg free. HELP!!!

Pick up the monitor and throw it as far as you can. Works for me everytime

I have the same problem with my laptop, plugging in a mouse doesn't help either. But it usually corrects itself after awhile of going crazy.

Ok i fixed the problem

A note to all who have both a wired & wireless mouse...If you are not using the wireless mouse, put it in the base.

It's possible that there's some dust or other gunk on the rollers inside the mouse that the mouse ball moves against. Remove the ball, clean it, clean the rollers (a small pencil eraser works well, and doesn't damage the surface) and try that.

Who still uses ball mice!?!?!? LOL!!!!

Wouldn't you be using either/or and not both at the same time? Weird.

I get this problem with my laptop about every 6 months or so.
I use a vacuum cleaner with the smallest nozzle on the keyboard to suck out any dust or crumbs, that fixes it. You could also open it up if you have a tiny screwdriver to really get it clean.
