I have new anti virus software installed. Today, while visiting the terb site, I had a pop up on my screen which said, "Intrusion attempt blocked. Type: port scan. Protocol: TCP. Remote IP address: 207.96.195.157" Can someone tell me in English what this means?

Thanks in advance.

Well...

The IP addy points to Videotron.ca/net and look.ca ( both ISP's providing dial up and high speed access)...

So someone was trying to pay you a visit using their Internet access, nothing to be worried about as it was blocked by your software...

Thanks kewluke. My ISP is Look Communications. Is it normal for one's own ISP to pay a visit to its customers. Yes, I realize that I have nothing to worry about as the attempt was blocked. And somehow I doubt Look Communications was trying to hack into my bank and investment accounts and transfer the contents to their own numbered account in the Caymens. Does anyone know why an ISP would routinely do this?

No probs

if they are your ISP, then it is a normal TCP/IP communication....they are just checking to see if you are using your network connection, if it is inactive they disconnect, this is just one of many internet handshakes that is standard , so again, if they are your ISP, then all is good....
