Could it be that women today have experienced years of sex by the time of marriage and have found it generally unfullfiling or have acquired a 'seen it, done it' mindset? A generation or two ago, so many brides were in their early twenties and married young, in part, to have sanctified sex. Perhaps because their sexual peaks were several years off, the transition from an early- to a mature-love relationship was more easily bridged. (Sex was still fresh and their bodies were becoming more and more attuned to its pleasures.)
Increasingly women are marrying near their sexual peak. Soon after newlywed lustfulness has worn off and a couple has formed a committed bond and children are on the way, a woman's life can become a harried 18-hour marathon. Is it any wonder then that many women view sex only in the rear-view mirror of their mind's eye, an extravagance of a glorious youth?
