I received a comment that implied that I wasn't supposed to have a desk in my bedroom. But I live in an apartment, so the desk naturally goes there.

For those of you who own houses, do you keep your desk in your bedroom, or do you have another room? I find it very convenient and cozy to have the desk inside the bedroom, but I noticed that many people don't...

when i had a desk i kept it in the bedroom because sometimes when you need to actually work that is the only quiet room in the house.

Keep it wherever you like. I prefer to have computer and TV well away from where I sleep. I don;t even bring the cell phone in there, I let is charge out with the computer overnight.

But it should go wherever your life pattern dictates, right?

I believe it depends on the size of the apartment -- if you live in a 1-bedroom apartment or condo, then the bedroom is the only logical place to put a desk (I myself keep my desk in my bedroom).

If you are planning on buying a house and thinking of where to move your desk, it's your call where you feel most comfortable to put it -- whether to put it in your bedroom or in a separate room, like a study or den.

I am in a position where I have a Home office - basically a second master bedroom as it has WIR and an ensuite as well. I always prefer to have computers, TV and exercise gear out of the bedroom - too tempting to distract when supposed to be resting.

In a previous house I did have room for a two seat couch in the bedroom (bay window area) which was great for reading and listening to music away from the rest of the household.

As others said, depnds ont he size/rooms in your home - I have certainly had a computer and TV in the bedroom in the past - by necessity more than by choice

If you have the space, keep the desk separate from the bed.

I hate my f'n job and a desk reminds me of f'n work and I lose sleep!

Better to keep TV and desks out of the bedroom for a more peaceful sleep IMHO.

Yes, when I was a student living in residence I had my desk in my bedroom/only room. Now I have a home office as I have the space to not have to keep it there.

I have a TV in my bedroom because I like to watch TV in bed where it's comfortable. I can set the sleep timer, take out my contacts and put the glasses on and fall asleep if so required.

Also good for watching movies with the woman in my life in bed.

There are those who don't believe in no TV in the bedroom - but I'm not one of them.

In terms of style or decorating, who cares? In terms of ensuring a sound sleep, no you should not have a desk in your bedroom.

Depends on size of apartment.
Absolutely, if you have a room for a personal office that is great, if you don't your bedroom is a perfectly ok place to have a desk.

It also depends upon whether you live with a S.O. or not.

I use the bedroom to sleep (don't watch tv in it either) and...to store shit.(boxes with books, cds, paperworketc etc . I have a smaller apartment...so I try to keep the living room a little more cleaner.

I have a quiet room to use an office/study, like to think of it as my own command centre/war room when working from home, LOL . Can concentrate much easier without distractions (i.e. dog, TV, girlfriend).
