Digital Camera Recommendation please?

Hi everyone, can anyone recommend what digital camera is excellent right now in the market in terms of durability, slim, picture quality and easy-to-use? I am looking for anything 8mp and over. I was looking at Sony's T70 but I had a older sony camera that is broken (turns OFF immediately after turning ON, not sure what the problem is) so now I am a little worried about Sony cameras. Any recommendations? Thank you all.

Personally I like fujifilm for point and shoot cameras, particularly for their good sensors (esp. look for fuji super ccd sensors) which allow you better shots in natural light. Lots of people love Canon point and shoot cameras too.

One of the better camera's available is the Canon G9. The new G10 is coming out soon so you'll get a good deal if you can find a G9. Point and shoot plus you can go into manual modes AND it offers RAW which most P&S camera's do not.

Google RAW if you don't know what it is.

I agree on the G9 or, if you don't care about RAW there is a G7 if you can find one.

The choice, of course, depends on what you want to do with the camera.

One of the Canon Elph series would also be an excellent choice.

You can't go wrong with Canon or Nikon.

I love the G9 and I know that it is way more camera than my ability. I am learning though and I am taking wayyyyy better pictures that I have before even if some of them are accidentally good.

I am going to look into some courses at henrys so that I can improve.

I have had Fuij., HP and Panasonics with the latter (TZ1) being good but I like the manual options of the G9.

I have had great luck with Henrys and got one freebie under their lemonaid policy and saved when I upgraded to the G9. Pay a bit more perhaps but I like them as a retailer.

The one caveat about cameras is that the best picture will always be the one that you did not take because you did not have your camera. The G9 packs a lotta power into something that I can easily cart around. When I owned a Canon AE1 35mm it only came out at holidays and birthdays. Now I have my camera with me 75% of the time that I am out.

Used is probably OK if it looks good and tests out. I would try to beat it down to 350 with a G10 coming out.

If you like the G series and price is an issue, you could look for a G6 or G7. Not too many G7 around though.

Also, Canon's ASeries like the A590 or the S5is. These are cheaper and also good quality.
