digital photo slideshow

I am looking to make a digital photo slideshow that automatically advances to the next picture and plays background music.

I tried making a movie with windows movie maker, and while I like seeing the audio and pictures on a timeline during editting, I find that the image quality is unacceptably reduced in the final product.

I am considering running the movie and Windows Picture and Fax Viewer, because the delay to advance to the next picture is similar between the 2 programs, but I have to account for the delay between executing the 2 programs.

I will try Powerpoint, but other suggestions are appreciated.

Both Roxio and Nero have applications that can create slide shows with music in the background in DVD format.

Pro Show Gold by Photodex is made for this purpose. But you have to purchase it.

I assume you have no access to a mac??

I can't check right now since I'm not on my Windows box (and too lazy to boot it right now). If all your pictures are in the same folder, isn't there a folder option to "view as slideshow"?

... Then play some music at the same time?

Or do you need to have the music and the pictures synchronized?
