1. What Canadian channels can I get?
- I don't want to be cut off from Canadian society just watching Fox News about orange alerts.

2. How do you update the cards when the channels are scrambled? Like could I get a new card from the "dealer" mailed in advance much like the legit customers do from their US retailers? Or do I have periods with no TV while they figure out the new code.

3. How much do you spend a year on getting all the channels?

I might be moving to the country and this seems like the way to go, especially as no Cdn satellite providers or cable provide NBA season pass.

If you are talking "Black Market" SATs....

1) None. DirecTV is an American Broadcast Company. You can get Much Music, but it is Much Music USA. Totally Different from ours.

2) You cannot get a "ligit" card mailed to you from DirecTV if you live in Canada. DirecTV is not licenced by the CRTC. You need to buy a Programmer/Unlooper. They go for about $99 - $150 and then subscribe to a service that will email you the "codes" as they go down. A good service will leave you eill almost zero downtime.

3) It depends on how much you pay for your scripts. On average it will run you $100 - $300, All inclusive. Although you can get free ones on the web, but they tend to be garbage.

Actually, you do not have to steal the signal and go down sometimes, you can get a real DirecTV system, like a real American. I have a "grey market" card, it is a legal US card, with legal US programming, paid for through a US address of my local Canadian satellite dealer. It costs about $100 Cdn per month for the package I have with HBO. I got it instead of Bell because I love HBO, and hate the CRTC.
