There is no fix for the P4/P5 cards as of yet, and if anyone tells you that they have one, there full of shit. Also watch out for the scam that has been going around since the Hu cards went down. Directv offers new subscribers 3 months free when you sign up, People in canada are using a US address to sign up, you can hook up 4 receivers to each address. They scam is that they hoock you up for 3 months, you get everything but the PPV. When the bill comes out for these guys to pay they don't pay the bill, Directv cuts off the service, and who ever signs up, there cards get blacklisted. There P4 cards become useless, so if there ever becomes a fix, these people will have to buy new cards. I have Directv, I used a US address, hooked up 2 other friends with me, we split the cost. I get all the channels for $30 US a month, and if one of us orders a PPV service, we let the others know, so they can watch. A much cheaper alternative. You never have to worry about it going down because it's legal, because I'm paying for it and I also had all the equipment.

My neighbour asked me about this, The chick that used to fix his Hu card told him about it. ( I always fixed my own card when I had DTV. ) I didn't know about the scam part just that he could get DTV, thanks for the heads up....I will be passing this on.

Nice Dens
My direct is up and running. Cost me $165 for 3 months. But I only get so many pay per views free in that time frame. Please don't ask me any technical questions as to how it works cause I don't know. My buddy set it up for me and I just mail him a cheque every quarter. Its been running for about two months so far.

$125 for 3 months and no ppv? You guys are getting hosed. Watchsatellite.tv offers access to all channels for $25 per month. Before the HU card went down, I subscribed without incident.

However, here is a better solution... FTA. The blackbird unit is overhyped. The way to go is the Fortec Ultra Lifetime receiver. No cards to fool around with. All you need is a computer to dl the encryption software (free I might add" and you're watching whatever you want. Check out http://www.dssevolution.com for more information.

In fact, you can even use your old DTV dish and repoint it to the 110 bird. However, for all the dishnet channels, you will need a D500 dish with dula lnbf. This can be had at Sayal electronics for about $140.

Reading the FTA Manual there it sounds like I have to develop decent soldering skills. Bummer.
