I confronted the owner who never picks up after his dog does the business. But he denies it even though I saw right out of my window. Today when I came home, fresh dog poop again. Although I did not see who did it, but I am pretty sure it's the same guy's dog. Is there anything I can do? such as taking picture / video evidence and call the cops?

Return it to the owner in a flaming bag at 3am in the morning.

Also, put up a Pesticide Applied sign on your lawn.

take a picture and or video and call the city. I had a similar problem and was asked if i knew who was doing it but i didnt know but suspected a girl who never carried a bag to pick up her dogs shit. The city told me to take a picture if possible and call them back. The owner usually gets 3 warnings after whichthey get fined. Good luck

Here's what you gotta do:

1) Buy $20 of bacon
2) Fry bacon, keep the fat
3) Eat the bacon
4) 10 minutes before the dog arrives, pour bacon fat on the crap (better yet, accumulate all the crap)
5) Wait with camera: dog can't resist the aroma of bacon fat and will gobble the crap
6) Take pictures and give to owner as souvenir....In Bacon I Trust, xxxx

Yep, do this! There is a fairly hefty fine in most places, depending on the bylaws. I think in this city it can run you up to 200$. Take a picture or video, and get your evidence together. It might be worth it to tell the person you are now taking pictures, and reporting it to the city. That may be enough to get them to smarten up.

Personally, I despise people who don't pick up after their dogs. It's disgusting, and that is how many diseases are spread, especially from dog to dog. Parvo, for one (VERY deadly!), not to mention intestinal worms. Yuck.

People want animals....but don't want to clean up after them. Fark them all...I'd make them eat it.

she called the cops and he was stupid enough to admt that he grabbed her hand when she tried to walk away

Actually, I don't believe it. A private citizen is allowed to detain someone who has committed a crime against them. They cannot go overboard but simply grabbing someone's hand does not seem to be overboard.

intentional application of force without consent is a crime
leaving your dogs poop unattended is not

that being said, i agree that the guy has a defence, and maybe more than one

using force is not acceptable for something like a dog crapping on your lawn. if you're beig threatened, someone is tresspassing, trying to steal from you etc etc, you can use "reasonable force" dog crapping on your lawn doesnt count here

I think you're wrong, I believe the law says: intentional application of force without cause......consent? lol, does that mean if someone says: I dare you to hit me, I could kick the living shit out of them without being charged and if they fought back, and I didn't give them permission, I could charge them?

gimme a break.

I called the police one time when I caught some kids sitting on my car and told them to get the fuck off....I was afraid they'd come back and do something to the car. I asked the cop what I can do if I catch them in the act. Their exact words were: You can do what's necessary to prevent their escape. Don't break their legs or anything, but if you have to sit on them, then sit on them.

Ummm, it IS trespassing, unless the dog crap floated through the air and magically was deposited by fairies......

Shit, I have a great idea:

I have a friend who has a problem with deer eating his flower garden. He bought these motion controlled sprinklers (I call them claymores) and if anything comes within like 20 feet of them, they go off then shut off a few seconds later.

You can set them up at the corners of your lot and if the dog goes on your lawn? fwap fwap fwap.

you could also pickup a motion controlled wildlife camera.

And it's really nasty when they puke it up on your carpet later that night :(

one more example of how our justice system has been perverted. If you give consent to fight someone that includes all possible outcomes. Cuz, well, we don't all carry around legal release forms with us for our opponents to sign.

Back to the subject at hand though, I don't believe one needs consent to detain someone who has committed a crime against us or our property. As I said, you cannot break their arm, but taking their hand when they try to leave, well, I don't believe anyone was charged.

Why did you watch from your window? Why didn't you go right out as it was happening?

Grab a plastic bag, follow them home and put it on his grass.

I have the daily dog walkers on my street too... A couple years ago I witnessed a dog "stop" on my lawn with a guy with no baggie... I grabbed my camera walked out on the front porch and watched the dog crap on my lawn while I took a picture of the owner... I was VERY obvious about it... He then said to me, "ummm, sorry about that... I forgot a bag". I said "no problem... here ya go" (handing him a bag...) He's never forgotten a bag since, and I have never had a pc of dog crap left on my lawn.

The guy says hi to me all the time.

Uglier than the crap on your lawn are the owners who do pick up, then drop the bag in the gutter or bushes a little farther on. They are hypcrital poobags, who think the entire city should clean up after them, while they pretend to be good citizens..

I like CG's solution.
Whatever you choose to do, please remember it's the owner's fault, not the dog's. So try to find a way to "educate" the owner, and please don't harm the dog.
