This is the problem i am having. I was using DVD Decrypter to download the dvd to my hard drive. Then i was using DVD shrink to shrink the files so they could fit onto a dvd-rw. once i finished shrinking them the DVD Decypter would automatically burn me a copy on a dvd-rw.

I would like a program that can copy the dvd and another program to shrink it so i can burn it onto a blank dvd

Can anyone help me with this. What programs do people use to copy dvd's

DVDFab writes the decrypted files to the hard drive. I then use Nero 6 Suite to shrink and burn to a 4.7GB DVD. Works like a charm on all original DVDs.

I forgot to mention that i was having a few problems with dvd decrypter that is why i am looking to change software.

thanks needitwantit for your info but im looking for a few different ways then ill go with the one that best suits me. I currently dont have nero 6suite on my home pc...but ill def look into getting it.

Macrovision bought the DVD Decrypter software, so now any site that's offering it for free download is being hounded for copyright infrigement.

I've had good success with Dr Divx for shrinking .vob files. There's a new (April 12, 2006) freeware beta available at:

Some encrypted DVDs can't be cracked by Decrypter or Shrink. Have a look at AnyDVD for those DVDs that give you problems... Disney DVDs give CRC errors with Decrypter and Shrink and AnyDVD cracks it nicely. I started using AnyDVD now instead of Decrypter. AnyDVD can also remove any nags at the start of those DVDs that do not allow you to FF or skip the disclaimers or commercials.

DVD Shrink works fine for me I haven't found a movie that I couldn't shrink and that includes the disney classics.

I use DVD shrink to get it off the DVD and onto my hardrive..... I used to use DVD Decryptor but found it wasn't necessary.

So once on the harddrive I use a program called ONES it allows you to burn 4.7 GB and DL DVDs.

I bought Narnia and The Greatest Game Ever Played DVDs (yes I do occasionally buy DVDs) both newer Disney releases. Both failed with DVD Shrink and Decrypter. AnyDVD cracked protection and ripped it to my HDD and then shrinked it with Shrink to fit on a DVD.

I just ran into trouble copying Hostel with DVDShrink.
However, installed the latest AnyDVD, and everything worked fine.

A real challenge was ripping the DVD of the TV show, The Job, as individual episodes, as the .vob files didn't correspond with the length of the episodes, (there were 7 .vobs for 6 episodes on disc 1).

I had to use the S-video ports on the DVD player and the video capture card, and record them like a VCR from TV, before re-encoding to a compressed format.

Just burned Hostel as well and I had to use DVD Fab as well. I think that having a couple of ripping programs is needed to make sure that you get what you want.

Hostel is also the movie i had problems ripping. I used DVD Fab and no problems. Anymore info/comments on this subject would be cool. Im sure we are all willing to learn something we dont know.

Can anyone provide the link for a free download of AnyDVD. I downloaded a copy of AnyDVD but its only a trial version (expires in 21 days)

Hmmm that's weird. For example somebody had trouble using Shrink on 24 season 2, disk 1 whereas I didn't.

More often than not if a disk doesn't work for me it's because it's a scratched rental copy.
