Use good quality media, many threads in here on that topic
if you're planning to back up commercially produced VHS, most are copy protected & you'll need a gizmo to break the macrovision

Yo Homies!

What are your experiences with a DVD Recorder?

I bought one today cos I wanna transfer some old VHS tapes over.

Anything I should know or be aware of?

thanks.

Homely here!

Agree 100%, buy some good media. Cleanliness is a must. Media is cheap so put only one or two movies on a disk. I can record at XP, SP, LP and EP. I can see the difference in quality between EP and other speeds. Try it and see for yourself. Use the audio/video cables for best recording. Also if possible use the S video cable. Read the instructions!!!!!!!!!!!!.......i know its a bore but i was amazed at some of the things this newer equipment can do.

Once i have recorded anything special i use my DVD burner to make a copy and keep the other as a master.

Best of luck and enjoy.
