Ok lately Ebay been dead of buyers for high performance auto parts...there are a few but prices are not like they were even 3 months ago...maybe cause the season is ending or the economy is NOT on the rebound...not sure why.

So I go listing a nice carburetor that is only 2 years old and has extra parts that make it easy to tune...cost $440 new without even those extras...my starting bid was $200 plus $30 shipping. I get an message from a power seller member with 650+ feedback score asking how much do I want..like lets deal outside of Ebay...I told him the price is fair and if it does not sell I wait until next spring when I should get more $$ for it...he messages me again..saying yeah but how much do I want now...I told him not so nice maybe that starting bid is $200.

So then 1 hour before item ends he bids (how much I don't know) I get one other bid for $204 from a guy in Canada--where shipping is more $$ so he only bids once..the guy who meassges me wins.

Now nothing, no payment-no message that he will pay on xxx date (3 days later)...hes not on vacation either cause in the detail bid area it shows the bidders bid history and his last bid was 2 hours ago on another Ebay motor auto part.

Not sure if this dude--who lives in AZ is playing with me or what..maybe he thinks he wait until the full 7 days to pay me but I have half a mind to cancel the sale..but if he does not agree to it I will have to pay the $20 selling fee...but not sure I want a "jerk" to get a good buy....sorry for the long post but would you eat the $20 or let a "jerk" get a nice deal?

Just to make sure I have the right of it..... he tried to negotiate an outside deal which you properly declined.... telling him the starting bid was $200.

He won the auction for an amount more than $204 + shipping and according to Ebay policy he has 7 days to pay you.

Sorry you don't like him but he won the auction fair and square and until the 7 days are up you don't have a reason to withdraw the deal. For you to do so would make you just as much a jerk as him IMO.

Hmmm, ok I wait, I just wounder if he just bid to stop my sale....I guess I know for sure if he does ever pay...if not and he takes a non paying strike--which isn't much cause Ebay does not seem to really care unless you do it more than once every 6 months or so...recall sellers can not leave negative feedback anymore.

He might have, you never know though I think he would have bid significantly more (since you didn't post how much I'm guessing it wasn't much more than $204) if he was trying to do that. Although I guess unless someone else tried to overbid him you wouldn't see what his max was come to think of it.

Keep track of the guy who bit $204... if the jerk falls through you can always offer to sell it to him if he still wants it.

Yes he won at $206 but nobody else bid so I don't know how high his bid was..yes after the 7 days I will try to refuse the sale--without being charge a fee and offer a second chance to the one who bid $204..sure he may appreciate the item more. I rather send it to him right now but hate to pay $40 instead of $20 to sell it.

If Ebay fees were 50% less I would not care as much...besides eating the $20, I stiill have to pay it again whenever I do sell it..so I'm looking at $40 :(

Edit...I will update this post as soon as there is news to report.

I completely understand how you feel... but I still think you should take the moral high road and not stoop to his level.

Shouldn't be a matter of amount..... it's all about keeping your karma clean.

Good, I often wonder what happens in some of the other posts where people ask for advice and we never get the followup.

doesnt matter how much his high bid was.

if you want to play dirty, have a fake account to prop up the bid.

get caught and ebay will super ban you (credit card blacklisted)

but you seem like the type of guy that doesnt care. lol

I care...but yeah I like to see people get a good deal. I got this brand new from Holley for not the retail price...I brought a return carb for $250 and it came damage from UPS dropping it and Holley said no problem, we have UPS pick it up and send you out a brand new carb in exchange. But then I spent about $100 on extras never thinking I switch over to dual quad Carter carbs and find that Carter carbs seem to run better at low rpms and two of them make as much power-if not more, than this carb. I found a rare intake from the early 1970's in great shape thanks to Ebay.

Ebay has been good to me, so that helps me passing along deals to other buyers...ones who appreciate it.

Now I know how an SP feels doing an all nigher with some guy who acts like a jerk and made $10,000 in the stock market in a few days cause he has $250,000 to risk--play with...while kind of...that must stink even more.

I have sold items on ebay since they started but have switched to Craigslist. Ebay just got to the point where sellers had no rights and they held your money forever. I have used CL all summer and sold a lot of stuff at a fair price. I do use ebay to see what items are selling for in their "advanced search, completed." but that's it. And of course eith CLit's pick up and xasg with no commision. Your right, it is a great place for hard to find stuff. I still buy things ocasionally.

One more thing, if you want to get out if this sale you might try forwarding the email that the buyer sent you about doing it outside of ebay. They hate that and may do whatever you want.

Update

No payment yet (a big surprise, lol) so I filed a unpaid item claim, now I have to wait for 8 more days or until the buy response back before getting a refund on the cost to sell the item (that did not sell, cause no payment was made.

This asswipe buyer is a powerseller, so he knows how the game goes. My gut feeling is he will take a unpaid item strike cause its no big deal the first time and gets removed in so many months (not sure how long)

But if he does pay, I'm pretty sure I am going to refund his payment and tell him my buddy is now using the carb and its no longer for sale and please agree to end this sale so I can get a refund on the seller fee (which will shock me if he agrees)

BS that I have to wait 8 more days now or until he answers. What BS, I could not file the claim until the full 7 days were up, right until the min the sale ended. Ended at 9 pm a week ago, and could not file until 9:01 pm a week later. Ebay could not even send a Email telling me I open a dispute, like they hope I forget.

Edit...here is the Item number: 220471955314
