Help plz

Personaly not much of a reader but was listening to the CBC on Fri and there was a review on ebooks and how they can be downloaded similarly as to the Ipod. The discussion touched on the device used but didnt give a name for it or I may have missed it . Have done a bit of a search and have only come up with the sony reader (is this said device)..Also there seems to be several e book sites can anyone recommend a specific site..

Would like to purchase one as a gift but need some advice thx...

Maybe a rebroadcast of this interview?
http://www.cbc.ca/spark/blog/2008/05/full_interview_malle_valik_on.html?copy-host
Anyways, there is information in the interview that you may/should consider.
Also read the comments on page - might aim you at some other resources.

Re: Kindle - I don't think they will ship the device to Canada (you could get it here with via ?) and I am not sure how available the services bundled with the device (Amazon.com) are in Canada.

Finally, how does the person you are giving it to feel about it? The ebook experience while better than it was before is still not the same as a real book. Personally, I prefer a book I can physically hold. You might ask if the giftee has ever tried an ebook.

Do not buy an ebook for someone..it's a very personal choice. The Kindle is intriguing but it's not available in Canada and as the previous poster said...not sure if the attendant services (especially wireless) will ever make it up here.

A gift certificate for Amazon might be better. :)

I personally subscribe to zinio reader (www.zinio.com). These are not e-books but they have large selection of computer and other magazines as well as electronic books. Very simple to use and graphics are like owning the actual magazine/book.
