elephant good luck

Does anyone know about having an elephant figurine in your house? I was given one a few years ago for good luck. I was told to have the butt facing to the door. A lady came over today, noticed it, and said that the face should be facing the front door for good luck. She also said that my figurine has the trunk down, not up. She said that is a sign of bad luck.
What is with this? I do not know!

I don't know about the bum facing the door or not, but almost every figurine on this site: http://www.agiftinabox.com/elephantfigurines.htm has the trunk raised up, and the captions describe this as a symbol of good luck.
