I am having a problem watching Youtube videos in TERB. (If someone makes a post and insterts a link for a Youtube Video - all I get is a big blank.)

I recently updated my Realplayer and Adobe Flash player and I'm wondering if that didn't result in my computer being reconfigured unknown to me. (I fucking hate when you download an update and it wants to make itself your default player.)

Anway, whenever someone posts a youtube video, all I see is blank screen.

I use my laptop and no such problem, so the problem is my desktop, not TERB.

Any ideas?

OMG is Realplayer still around?

I dumped it years ago when it went to RealOne becoming much too bloated and used its own weird proprietary format. When doing updates you have to be careful and watch, as they usually try to get you to select them as your new default player which will reconfigure your past settings and sometimes fark things up on you. I suspect Real did this to you. I never has problems with Adobe Flash doing this.

On Windows I always preferred WinAmp player over other players. WinAmp is full featured, runs lean, playing all formats well and is free like Real. However WinAmp will do the same and ask you to select WinAmp as your default player and switch all your media/music files over to Winamp, which I never had a problem with. Doing this should correct your problem.

Videos on Youtube are delivered via Flash or HTML5 depending on the browser you are using.

Try using Google Chrome an excellent browser than has Flash built in and is one of the best HTML 5 browsers available
automatic updates. install and forget about it. http://www.google.com/chrome/intl/en/make/download.html?brand=CHKZ

you should uninstall real, I can't think of any need for it anymore. use VLC player http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ it's a free media player that can play virtually any format without the need to install additional codecs

btw which browser and OS are you using?

Using Internet Explorer 9.0

I will uninstall realmedia.

I tried yesterday changing all the default programs. Anywhere I saw Real Media being the default program I changed to Windows Media. Still didn't work.

Yay,

Deleted Real Media, problem solved.

Fucking Piece of Shit. I hate when you need to download any software and it immediately wants to make itself your default for everything.

Good ridence.

You have to watch for this whenever installing new software, browsers, media players, burning software, etc. During the install they usually ask you if you want to make them your new default software. Other times they may show you a 'checked off' box saying this will become your new default software unless you 'uncheck' that box. Make sure to watch for this when installing anything new.

Windows Media Player in OK but I prefer Winamp or VLC because they run lean and load faster.

I quit using IE years ago.
IE9 is nice but IMHO Chrome, Opera or Firefox are better and more secure. Whenever you install another browser they will want to be your new default browser. Just decide which one you prefer for default. I've always had 3 or 4 browsers installed on all my PCs for years. Never had any problems doing this and just like to see what the others are doing at times. Sometimes it came in handy when using Windows in case one got farked up or hijacked. In that case I always had a backup browser to use to clear up the farked up browser.
