Ummm... Ever hear of the Beastie Boys?

It's good that he retires lest he be found whining and bitchin for another 10 years like Trent Reznor.

The Beasties are a good bunch of old school rappers, but Eminem is pure hip hop. With the new age of hip hop, and rapping about drugs, violence, the ghetto and the hard-knock life...Eminem hit's it dead-on.

The Beastie's were a bunch of rich jewish kids who rapped about fighting for your right to party in the 80's. Eminem has street cred, and he stays away from the bling and sings about what matters.

His heart lies in todays hip-hop society, and even though the Beastie's can still be chart toppers, they cannot surpass Eminem in true heart-felt lyrics and record sales.

Eminem is not only considered the best white rapper, he is considered one of the best rappers of all time.

Actually the Beasties have put out far better albums than Eminem, if all you herd was their 1st album then you missed the boat on the Beastie Boys completely.

Paul's Boutique
Check Your Head
Ill Communication
Hello Nasty
To The 5 Boroughs

Most are considered rap classics.

Holy Crap I can't believe I forgot all about House of Pain. Man they were so dope. Too bad they broke up.

Eminem gots skills but y'know I can only listen to how much he hates his Mom and his exgirlfriend like so much then it gets as old as Trent Reznor's "disillusionment".

Don't know about "street cred" but The Beastie Boys are considered one of the major reasons for rap crossing over and have credibility in the industry. If you are talking about 'rap', it wasn't always about the hard life and street cred. Go back to the early days of rap with the Sugar Hill Gang and Curtis Blow and later with RUN DMC and rap was different then. Public Enemy started the harder edge rap/hip-hop movement. There are rappers who look at today's rappers and wonder what the heck is going on. Anyway I could be wrong but I wouldn;t be surprised if 20 years from now the Beastie Boys are remembered more in their rap history than Enimem

...Look at Dr Dre, wicked music, still probably makes more money off the likes of Slim Shady and 50 Cent. That's the hustler in them, why work for the money when you have others work for your money LOL
...And I don't hear anyone mention "Snow" roflmao
Love it or Hate it...P. Diddy build his wealth on producing.

Can't remember if it was Snow or Vanilla Ice that was out of the scene served a few year that took him out of the limelight and never recovered.

I think it will be moe of a Jay-Z retirment............he will still make the odd album but wont be touring or doing live shoews anymore.

Howeverhe will concentrate on prodiucing, working on shaddy records.........and maybe a few more investments along the way possibably a basketball team?
