The article you linked is about eDonkey. eMule isn't the same thing. Even if they stop distributing the software, people can still use the versions they have now.

If anyone is interested, NO ONE uses the official eDonkey client any more. I think it made up less than 15% of the network when they stopped distributing.

I'm confused. I opened emule. While emule still works it only has pay downloads. Anyways I think I will be switching to torrents.

Torrents seem to offer the most now.
I like newsgroups the best but they have scaled back quite a bit of content compared to a couple years ago.
I mainly get music and a couple years ago you could find any song of album on newsgroups, even stuff CD NOW, CD Universe and Amazon no longer carry and never get a bogus file. Sadly this is no longer the case.
