I recently downloaded a movie but when I try and play it through Windows Media Player (9) I get an error that says, "Error Downloading Codec." I can see the video but there's no audio.

I've tried a number of different resolutions (going to DivX and downloading patches, etc.) but no luck.

Any ideas?

There's a great little program called gspot, should be the first link when you google it. It tells you exactly what video and audio codecs you require to play the file and tells you if you have them installed....

i'm going to take a stab in the dark and guess it's the ac3 audio codec you need

I used to have that problem when I used the windows player. Someone put PowerDVD on my computer and now I use it for all my videos..... and never get that message anymore. I remember getting a virus when I was trying to download "codec files for windows media player" from various places online so use caution....
