Agreed Doctor... I don't pay more than $125. max if I feel like splurging. I only play Wooden Sticks, Angus etc. when there are deals to be had ie. long weekend specials, 2-4-1's etc. No course is worth paying more than that, esp. Glen Abbey who wants to charge some crazy $235. per round, no meals etc. That's just crazy!

Niagara Falls also has a couple of gems at reasonable green fees. Whirlpool and Royal Niagara.

Lindsay has Oliver's Nest. Very tough.

In to Ottawa....

Eagle Creek - If you have never played this you are missing alot. Not for new golfers. This baby will chew you up. It's great just for the site lines. Quite away from all the noise.

.
Agree. A very nice public course.

Played Cherry Downs yesterday for the first time. That is a tough course!!
Had heard that the greens there were extremely fast, although yesterday they were a little slower due to aeration and sand on them.

Played Bigwin, Taboo and Deerhurst a couple weeks back. Deerhurst doesn't get the same recognition as the other two, perhaps because it's older, but comparable to the other two. All fabulous but pricey. From a value perspective, I play mostly central and east courses so I haven't played Osprey, Silver Lakes is my favourite public. St. George favourite inner city private.

However, that said, we are spoiled with the number of good courses within 45-60 minute driving distance of Toronto.

It's that time of year. I've managed to catch Lakeview, Don Valley, National Pines and Copper Creek all having been aerated no more than 2 weeks prior to me playing them.

It's a rip off when these courses charge full rates when they aerate the greens. I refuse to play anywhere that won't offer a discount when that happens. Especially these high end courses, that really stinks!
