Hunh. Funny that. Going to fight in Japan, where MMA fights have been known to be scripted and MMA promotional organizations have been consistently run by well-tattooed Japanese men missing joints of their fingers.

Fedor's business dealings are dirty as hell. He's one of the all time greats, no doubt, but he's in bed with bad people/is one of those bad people outside the cage. Don't look at his choices from the lens of an athlete or a sportsman. Look at his actions as that of a shady businessman. The UFC was right not to let him promote M1 on their backs. It's a joke of a show, a joke of a promotion, and Fedor is back in to try and make some money when he could have fought for the UFC without that moron Vadim's management and be properly retired now.

Or, you know, he still would have had to fight after paying his brother's (failed) legal defense against rape charges.

He's only doing one fight with this promotion though, unless he signs on for more fights later.
If he doesn't fight in The UFC sooner or later, his legacy will be questioned as whether he was the greatest ever or not. Also, if he doesn't fight one of the best later next year or ever, he'll be seen any someone just coming back for a money grab. I wonder if he was on PEDs back in the Pride days.....

Fucking Chael Sonnen starting false rumors and getting my hopes up by stating The UFC was planning an event for a Fedor vs Anderson Silva showdown.

I don't know if Fedor was on PEDs, but damn near everyone he fought sure was. Pride did everything but hand their fighters the needle. The sort of thing that happens when the yak runs your promotion.

The fight was announced on Belator so I assume that the fight is in some kind of partnership (and with spike tv).

Not surprised that Fedor would be fighting considering Tito Ortiz was a headliner on the last card fighting for a belt. The whole promotion seems to be has-beens and no-names.

Yes the new Japanese promo ia partnership with Spike as was said when it was revealed when he signed on for a New Years Eve fight, its the former Pride boss behind this as well.

I guess all hardcore MMA fans and UFC fighters were thinking he was coming back to cement his legacy against the current best of the best.

I severely doubt Fedor will be fighting anyone near the best of the best. It will either be against another washed up big name or someone brought in only to make Fedor look good.

I can't believe I am saying this but I'd actually pay to watch him matched up with Ortiz.

Weight wise Tito is a big 205er and he could come in pretty good shape at around 220 or so.

Which is exactly where Fedor comes in.

Let's face it that fight would definitely have name value and it's the type of opponent that Fedors management group has usually sought out. Remember Dan Henderson in SF?

Now I know that bout didn't exactly pan out the way Vadim/Fedor planned but they wouldn't have to worry to much about getting Ko'ed by Ortiz.

It's an interesting possibility when you think about it

Apparently he's getting 2.5 million for that one fight in Japan, much more than The UFC would ever offer him.
