File-sharing suffers major defeat.
The US Supreme Court has ruled today that file-sharing companies are to blame for what users do with their software.

Good and bad in this outcome. It protects copyright, but it forever closes the door on the genuine purpose of file sharing which is to enrich and broaden the horizons of people who couldnt afford the time or money to sample other artists. I know thanks to file sharing I buy more and different music than I used to. I was limited to what Iiked on radio and TV before file sharing.

It only pertains to the United States. It still won't shut down file sharing from hosts outside the USA
