Are these vehicles being made for use IN china?

I wonder, since the US can't attack in any way shape or form, is this their way of controlling the population? Let's see, we're over populated, we can't feed our people, how do we control population growth? I know, let's produce cars that after they reach a certain speed, can't be slowed down or stopped.....Let's make them really cheap and really fast so a bunch of youngsters will buy em.....

Is the CIA behind this? lol.....

Call McCallion and complain. Manufacturing of the gas pedal parts is done in Mississauga.
But the company is 'based' in Indiana. I wonder where the design is done? And doesnt Toyota and Ford have a responsibility to test these products??

I don't know for certain but I can bet you that the design was done in Japan and yes, new vehicles are tested extensively. And are tested before they leave the assembly line, and no amount of controlled testing can replicate all the variables of real world conditions.

There are millions of different drivers in all shapes and sizes and habits. Like the sliding floor mat problem: some people tend to push on the mat when they climb in and some don't. Maybe all the testers didn't?

The sliding mat problem was solved a while ago. Back in the day, my 2000 Focus had a special floor mat on the driver side that could not slide forward. There was a hook in the floor and a hole with a grommet in the mat through which the hook latched to the mat. The subsequent Focus I replaced my first one with (after Crappy Tire 'retired' it for me behind a pickup truck) and the Freestyle have the same hook and hole with grommet. Maybe, other manufacturers use the same floor mat design on the driver side?
