I would be categorically destroyed having to sit through all that. But then, I'm a decent person.
The fact that he managed to sit there while testimony after testimony railed him with the monstrosity of what he did and not be destroyed by it.... Speaks volumes about what kind of person he is.

This guy got what he deserves.

I'm very surprised he was able to get away with this for so long. I don't know how it works but I never would think a young girl should be unaccompanied when seeing a male doctor. Some of the girls were older but he saw 7 and 8 year olds.

The other thing is why did it take so many girls such a long time to come forward. I understand the little girl who's just trying to make it big not saying anything. But I think some girls would say something to their parents. And then girls like Aly Raisman had the opportunity immediately after the gold medal was put around her neck. I think a lot of silence has resulted in more victims than perhaps there should have been.

In many cases, in the same room as their daughter and him.
Apparently he was very clever at disguising his actions.
During the court case shown on TV one of the victims said he stuck his hand in her +!?#a - how can a vigilant parent not notice that escapes me.

The poor victims will always feel tarnished for life. Hopefully, some personal counselling will help them overcome their violation by this criminal predator. That will be a huge set of hurdles for them to overcome.
Very sad indeed.

This guy got exactly what he deserved. Too bad he wasn't caught sooner.

I really don't understand why women keep so silent for so long in these situations. They certainly know what was done to them was very wrong, and at some point this guy has no power over them. Don't they feel a responsibility to stop this shit? If I were him I would kill myself. There is nothing to live for except going to hell before you go to hell anyway.

Fortunately I have never experienced any abuse of this sort, nor have I been close to someone that has (that I know of).
But from what I have heard victims say over the years is:
-They feel ashamed and maybe guilty (especially young kids: I must have done something to deserve this).
-They just want to forget about it and not open up old wounds that would surely be aired all over the media.

Gosh he touched a thigh with his hands - gosh send him to prison for 175 years and the girl is a victim of her life ruined. Isn't this a bit overboard? Or maybe hands got too close to the vagina - oh my girl life ruined and 175 years in jail as if 2nd degree murder. I am not condonin and have no interest in under aged but the reaction just seem a bit extreme for not having sex or anything forced. How much can be done with parents watching. Fingering? Ok Wrong but the punishment and extreme reaction just doens't seem to fit the crime. Maybe a year of time would be more realistic and not be able to train again.

Long ago I got an e-mail from a guy who had sex with an older guy while he was underage. Now an adult. At the time didn't think much of it. Until he told mother and now he is supposed to understand that his life is ruined by this pervert. He didn't understand this until everyone told him this is how he is supposed to feel. But he just wishes folks would stop it about how he was abused as a kid and he refuses to be shamed now as an adult. He said the only thing that is negative is people's view not his reaction to it.

Where the fuck are these girls' parents??
I hate to say it but when kids get to an elite level of sport (or parents have pushed kids into an elite level) some of them become nose-blind to potential problems. I’ve seen this myself when my kids were high level swimmers. There was another GTA swim club (which I will leave un-named) who had a strength/training consultant who had been banned from coaching by Swim Canada because of a US Steroid importing conviction (and other unsavoury stuff). He had actually spent time in jail for another offence (too bizarre to mention, but involved a murder and a dead body). So this guy (who couldn’t officially be a coach) was hired as a conditioning trainer and he would sit in the stands (because he was banned from being on-deck) coaching the team via cellphone or having swimmers come up into the stands to talk to him before their races. He had a very sketchy background with a lot of unsavoury stuff. Married to one of his former swimmmers (think he only coached her when she was an adult though). Yet every parent of this club turned a blind eye to letting their 11-17 year old kids be in daily contact with him. I do have to admit that he was obviously a great swim coach (their club had great results) but how far do you go to get your kid one step further towards the Olympics?

Edit to add: eventually Swim Canada banned the clubs from competing.

Where are the parents? Blinded by the guys credentials and the fact that they have their kid on track to be a high performing athlete. Maybe they were like "No, (insert girl's name) he was just working where your hip meets your thigh."

Where are the coaches and staff? Woefully blind. The head of the athletic department at the university that Larry was associated with stepped down.

He was a sneaky bastard. He would even bribe the girls with candy and food they weren't supposed to eat. Knowing that they were gymnasts and on super strict diets he used that to his advantage.

For the guy who said 175 years seems extreme..... keep in mind hundreds of girls were touched. But not only that it was a betrayal of a trusted position as a team doctor.

Two interesting things I heard recently is that they estimate the average pedo touches quite a few kids before getting caught and typically are never charged for the correct amount (as not all victims come forward). They also said that the average victim tells 7 people before the act is reported. Granted that number might be lower as a few of those might not be adults but children/friends.
