I am totally convinced...

My computer at home is royally f**ked because of those so-called free pass words and free adult websites etc. And it was not even me, that's what hurts the most. Yah, yah I know always easy to blame someone else... but it's true. lol.

A friend of mine was visiting and he visited some of these so called free sites and was using these free pass words etc... My computer has never been the same since. I had two different people come look at it and did install anti-pop up software etc. But now still as soon as I turn my computer on... the pop ups start (and they are all adult pop-ups) and I didn't even boot up Explorer yet. I can’t do anything on my computer at all. The pop ups just keep streaming in like bees to honey. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

It's very very irritating to say the least.

Are these like instant message pop-ups? Not your usual internet ones? My brand new computer did the same thing, its a built in thing to do with windows that you have to turn off. Let me know, I'm gonna look into it in the meantime, it was a while ago now, forgot how I got rid of it.

Ouch!!!!!

Well that is what happens when things lookto good to be true.
One of the best fixes is to go and get a true spyware removal software.
Not to mention you can gwet some Adware removal free ware that helps alot.
Norton or McAffee do not always get the Adware out.

Right click on My Computer
Select Manage
Double click on Services and Applications
Double click on Services
Look for Messenger (not Windows Messenger, but some other Messenger)
On the General Tab, select Disable on the startup type

That should hopefully stop the network alerts, if that is what is causing the popups. Hope it helps, and please let me know.

... I'll take all my porn live and in colour from local sp's , thank you.
That's what peeves me off the most... I never look at that stuff. I am not a porn fan. (Ok with the exception of a few girl on girl one's I have seen) This friend of mine comes over... he goes nuts on my computer and now it's never been the same since.

Good question. I am going to look into that. Thanks. But like I say it really only started after the above mentioned. That's why I assumed that was the cause.

to get rid of the pop ups you speak of is easy.
Go to Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services and then look for Messenger Service. make sure that it's "disabled" and the start is set to "never". It's a big pain in the ass.

Online adware removers

Just a quick note to anyone downloading spyware/adware removers from the net. Many of them actually install their own adware to your computer.. eliminate some of their competitors, but have crap from new sites to wade through. The best defence is spysweeper.. can be bought at any store that sells software for around $29.95 , have had it for a couple of years and it removes and keeps out all the crap that norton/mcafee miss... well worth the $$$ at least in my opinion.

If you are inundated with spyware and popups go here:

www.spywarewarrior.com

It is a a forum where people offer you anti-scumware solutions for free. They analyze your hijackthis logs. They send you fixes, blocks, and refer you to good firewall freeware and more.

Good luck.
