I like working from home when I get the chance to do it, but for those people who are insisting that that’s what they want to do all the time., just be aware that your competition may live half way around the world and is willing to work for 1/4 or 1/3 of what you are making.
When more and more employers figure this out those are the people you will be competing with for jobs.

Funny enough I had this exact same argument with a couple of Gen Zedders who love working at home in their parents' basements. My argument was, "if your job can be done with you just working out of your basement, why wouldn't your employer just hire a guy in India or China to do your job for 2 bucks an hour?"

Their response was along the lines of time zones and cultural differences and that I was just an old" boomer". Well this "boomer/ Gen exer" has been through the recession of 92 thru 95 and then the dot com crash and then the great recession of 08. Never let a good recession go to waste. It never changes and the people who are coasting at work are the first out the door. Nothing says coasting like wearing your pajamas, making a tea and logging on at 10 in the morning from mommy and daddy's basement.

Let's look at this a different way. What's the minimum wage in Nicaragua? Is $3.75 US per hour an evil wage in that country?

A quick search found this: How much is average wage for high skilled employees in Nicaragua? Average wages for high skilled employees in Nicaragua increased to 13600 NIO/Month (402.465 USD/Month). The maximum level was 13800 NIO/Month and minimum was 11900 NIO/Month.

Now if you take what Freshii is paying them, $3.75 per hour for a 40 hour week works out to $150.00. Multiply that by 4 and you get $600.00 USD/Month. Of course I don't know if any of this is accurate. But if it is, can Freshii really be accused of not paying them a fair wage? I'm sure those employees don't mind making highly skilled wages for doing a customer service job.

Out the door. Now a days the only thing that gets you out the door is attitude and arguing with a crony. Seen it to many times.

When I was working in Australia in year 2000 on assignment I had to contact Compaq regarding a server driver for a scsi stack of drives that was acting weird. Turned out se asia support is out of Indai. Those guys were way more interested and better at hunting down the configuration start up glitch than any support I ever got out of the US based operations when I was here.

Our work IT is now outsourced, and out of India, and again - really knowledgeable and interested in solving the issue 90% or the time, which sadly is much abouve what we got interest in our issues when IT support was NA based.

We have our own design bureau in Inda now, and they turn out really good work, but there is more communication overhead to make sure they are pointed in the right direction first.
