This ebay buyer clailms not to have received the item I was selling. But, I am 100% sure that the person got it, because I mailed it with the address and cut and pasted from the computer.

Now s/he has filed a dispute, and is wanting their money back. I just looked at their feedback score, and they have many negative complaints against them.

I hope it all works out, but I have no proof that I did in fact mail it, except for an email that I sent to the buyer saying that I did.

I will make sure I have proof of shipment from now on.

Depends on how much moolah is in question.

If it's not that bad, just refund the money and chalk it up to lesson learned.

For future shipments, use a shipment method that includes tracking capabilities.

And mark that buyer with negative feedback, so that you and others don't deal with him again.

It's too late, I already gave positive feedback, since the payment was received, and the feedback is permanent: no way to turn it into a negative.

Now I know not to give feedback until the transaction is 100% complete. There is no way I am going to pay for it, based on principle. The dollar amount is close to $100 also.

I just went through that with a guy as well. All over a bunch of cards for 2.99 which I know he received. I saw a couple of them on his listings. He filed a dispute against me, I responded and left a message for the ebay team and said check his feedbacks as he has a history of filing claims against sellers and has had a few against him as well. Last week the dispute was closed.

If this person has a history, mention it when you respond and have ebay check him/her out.

Then the other day another idiot tried to file against me for an item he won back in May. He paid 175 bucks for it but it was after 45 days so the dispute couldn't be opened. I just happened to have the tracking for the item. I checked it out and it was received. Oops!!! He is just pissed because he had his account terminated for the umpteenth time for causing problems. Figured he would file false claims and try to get his money back. Guess he forgot the package was traceable. I have dealt with him several times under different user names. I don't know how he keeps getting back on.

I learned a long time ago not to post any feedback until the buyer leaves it for me. I got caught many times, leaving positives only to have the buyer turn into an asshole and leave me undeserved negs. Never again.

I have zero tolerance for these idiots now. Yesterday a moron (these people are mostly newbies too, you may notice) left me 2 neutrals for no reason. I shipped quickly, even sent him back 2 bucks for the shipping over charge that I had to estimate. The product was mint and exactly as described. So I left him feedback. 2 negatives for being an asshole.

In fairness, just because you sent it doesn't mean they got it. Canada Post has less than stellar record of delivering everything that is sent through it.

Lesson learned here - always use tracking. It might cost a couple of bucks more, but is worth it when cases like this creep up.

Preaches honesty is the best policy but F#*ks over the seller and buyer while using UPS the most costly brokerage fees I have ever seen and Pay pal when the service charge the s**t out of every sale they still want you to return something that the customer broke even when it states NO returns if you damage the property and customer is responsible for all shipping costs

If it was Canada Post you are covered up to $100 and you could have got additional coverage if asked then the post office will confirm it was sent and if they can not prove it they will reimburse you

I posted this thread a few hours ago: https://terb.cc/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=165965

Before posting it, I was at the book store and looked through an `eBay Bible` book. It was saying how most people using eBay are honest, the customer is always right, and, whatever else that would make me think the book was commissioned by eBay itself.

When I posted a thread a few years back here, someone replied that there were alot of bottom-feeders on eBay. Having gained some experience, I believe he was right and you do have to cover your bases; but, that won`t always allow you to avoid trouble.

However, I bought some very nice things on there and sold several things without a problem. So, I also think there are quite a few quality people on there. I think those with a large feedback count and a 100% rating, probably do go by the adage that the customer is always right. For me, having only sold about ten items on there, I don`t feel willing to take a loss, or in my case above, to sit there like a target waiting for someone to take advantage of me.

Sounds like you might have a case based on the buyers past history. Save the email too, it shows to some degree that your professional.

In regards to my thread, does anyone know what sentence I could add to my listing, or do I need to add anything, that would allow honest people to purchase my electronic item and feel a bit comfortable that they could return it if it was not what they wanted? In reality, people purchasing this item know if it works it`s what they want.

Why deal with people who have negative feedback??? That's the first big red flag that you need to pay attention to.

Things have taken a turn for the worse. Paypal is now telling me I have only three choices: 1)issues a refund 2)provide tracking information 3)the buyer has already been refunded.

What do I do now? I know the buyer received the item, but they are claiming not to have.

Ebay's wonderful support:

Defrauded Sellers
If you shipped the item and your buyer claims that it was not received, please work with your buyer and shipping carrier to reach a resolution.

Gee, thanks, ebay.

There are some real bastards out there. I was contacted by US federal investigators who were prosecuting a guy for fraud. At least he only took me for $150 while many shelled out $1000+ for computers with this guy. I really don't mind paying a few bucks more now for a reliable retailer.

You mentioned that the buyer has several negatives. When you respond to the dispute make sure you mention this. If you have no negs or no history of this type of activity, also mention that. Ebay/paypal will investigate and if you can prove this person has a history of this, it may work in your favour. It surely won't hurt your case.

For the record, the buyer wasn't me. I have a 100% rating so far.

But I am sympathetic with the point that stinkynuts is making. I had one instance where I got cheated -- the person never sent me the item I had purchased. I thought about posting a negative rating, but knew the person would retaliate by giving me a negative rating.

I figured it wasn't worth it, so I let the matter drop (it was a low-cost item of no real consequence).

In another situation, a person sold me a DVD that he had listed as "new". Yet when the DVD arrived, it was clearly obvious that it was used. When I contacted him, he said he had listed it as used. But I double-checked the listing in my ebay folder, and there was nothing indicating it was used, and the item had clearly been listed as "new".

When it comes to ebay, you take your chances.

One time I refunded someone there money through Paypal using eBay and the SOB has the nerve to leave me a negative feedback even though I fully refunded him the money.

I second (or third?) the comment about always ship using a method that has tracking.....and who is to say he actually received it? Do you have proof? (and proof isn't showing the receipt that you mailed it).

Contact Canada Post because if they can prove they delivered it, and he's claiming he didn't, that's mail fraud. A pretty serious offence.....
